Hello friends,
As we continue Make a Difference Month, we’ve talked about becoming the CEO of your health and investing in your IRAH — your Individual Retirement Account for Health.
Now we reach an important turning point.
After 55, everything changes.
You’re no longer just preventing disease. You’re deciding whether you will thrive… or slowly decline.
The Shift After 55
In your 40s and early 50s, the focus is on avoiding the silent buildup of disease.
But after 55, the question becomes different:
Will you stay strong?
Will you remain independent?
Will you continue to enjoy life?
Or…
Will you gradually lose strength, mobility, and energy?
This is the reality many people face — but it doesn’t have to be your story.
My Wake-Up Call
I’m almost 81 years old.
And I don’t share that number lightly — I share it because I want you to know this is real.
My wake-up call came at 63 with a heart attack.
Looking back, I can honestly say that the “fat Coach Roger” in my 40s and 50s was heading in the wrong direction.
But that moment forced me to make changes.
Changes that made a difference.
And those changes are why I’m still here today — active, independent, and thriving.
The LEAN Pillars of Health
Over the years, I’ve built my life around four simple principles I call LEAN:
Lifestyle
Exercise
Attitude
Nutrition
If you practice these consistently, your chances of reaching 80 and beyond in functioning health increase dramatically.
But thriving is about more than just exercise and nutrition.
Thriving Is a Way of Life
To truly thrive after 55, you have to look at the bigger picture.
It’s about:
How you think
How you adapt to change
How you connect with others
How you live each day
In many ways, you can create your own version of the Blue Zones lifestyle — right where you are.
You don’t have to move across the world.
You just have to make intentional choices.
A New Goal: Better Years, Not Just More Years
After 55, the goal is not just to live longer.
It’s to live better.
To have:
Strength
Energy
Purpose
Connection
Because those are the things that make life meaningful.
Final Thought
You are the CEO of your health.
And the investments you’ve made — and continue to make — will determine your future.
So the question is simple:
Are you ready to thrive?
